September 9, 2007 Bangladesh 3 Hong Kong 1 Bangladesh beat Hong Kong 3-1 to finish 7th in the 2007 Asia Cup here on Sunday. Hong Kong, in fact, had taken the lead in the 23rd minute but Bangladesh hit back with three goals to finish seventh. Arif Ali, who has been slotting in the penalty corners for Hong Kong, scored in the 23rd minute for Hong Kong to take the lead. Bangladesh was pegged back till the 35th minute and only a defensive error gave the initiative to Bangladesh to equalize. Rasel Mahmud was on target with an angled shot. In the 46th minute, Md Jahid Bin Talib’s field attempt was successful in giving the lead to Bangladesh. Hong Kong did try to break through but Bangladesh were good at their man-to-man marking. In trying to move up, Hong Kong left gaps in the midfield which the Bangladeshi’s used to score their third goal in the 59th minute. Rasel Mahmud scored his second and the team third in a fine 3-1 win over Hong Kong.
