September 8, 2007 China 6 Hong Kong 1 After conceding a goal in the 5th minute to Hong Kong, China fought back and slammed six past the Hong Kong defence to record a 6-1 victory and play Pakistan for the 5th/6th play-offs on Sunday. China had failed to make it to the semi-finals after South Korea had beaten them on a superior goal average. Arif Ali provided the shocker when he converted a penalty corner in the 5th minute. Hong Kong has shown a lot of improvement but lack of infrastructure and a professional league has not thrown up too many players. Hong Kong players have the talent but lack tournaments to show-case them and improve skill-wise. China hit back with the equalizer in the 12th minute when Lui Xian struck with a penalty corner. At the break, China led 4-1. Hong Kong’s defence stood out well in the second half as they restricted the speedy Chinese to only two goals. Score Sheet: Arif Ali (5th, PC) 1-0 Liu Xiang (12th, PC) 1-1 Liu Xiang (24th, FG) 2-1 Huang Wei (29th, PC) 3-1 Liu Xian (35th, FG) 4-1 Huang Wei (41st, FG) 5-1 Hu Hui Ren (61st, PC) 6-1
